The vision.
Canterbury is a coastal forever home in Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula, used as a long-term family retreat for holidays and generational visits. The owners wanted somewhere that worked for a quiet midweek and a Christmas of twelve in the same week. The brief asked for easy operation by any family member or guest, security they trusted when the home sat empty, and poolside music whenever summer was on. Nothing was to need explaining.
The experience.
The residence is built around easy operation by any family member or guest, with named scenes on every keypad and a deliberately small set of choices so a grandchild and a guest read the wall the same way. CCTV and alarm sit on the same Control4 backbone with remote access, holding the home through the quiet seasons and reaching the owners on the app whether the house is occupied or shut up for winter. Poolside outdoor audio runs for summer entertaining, with one track carrying across the deck and the kitchen. Lighting, climate and audio share the same simple wall hardware. A house that fills with grandchildren in summer and looks after itself the rest of the year. Nobody has to explain how anything works.
